Dust off your dancing shoes! A free 45-minute dance lesson at 6:30pm kicks off an evening of swing dancing in Bing Concert Hall’s Gunn Atrium, accompanied by live music from the queen of classic jazz and blues, singer Lavay Smith, and her seven-piece band. The sultry chanteuse Smith evokes a sensuous era of glamorous jazz divas and celebrates the popular Swing Era of the 1940s.
Dance instructors are Paul Csonka and Rachel Liaw of Wednesday Night Hop in Mountain View.
Come hear the music for free in the open air or buy a ticket to join in on the dance floor. The Bing lobby doors will be open and there will be food trucks stationed outside, courtesy of Off the Grid.
Generously funded by The Koret Foundation, the Koret Jazz Project is a multi-year initiative to support, expand, and celebrate the role of jazz in the artistic and education programming of Stanford Live.
