Started by Reverend Cecil Williams in the mid-1960s with ten singers and musicians, the Glide Ensemble and the Change Band currently include over 100 members. The ensemble has brought audiences to their feet for nearly 50 years with an explosive, legendary sound and a powerful, inspiring mix of musical influences from spiritual, gospel, jazz, blues, pop, and soul. Under the musical direction of John F. Turk, Jr., they embody Glide’s infectious message of diversity, acceptance, and unconditional love. The world-renown choir has performed for luminaries including Dr. Maya Angelou, Leonard Bernstein, President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Bill Cosby, Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones, Coretta Scott King, Bobby McFerrin, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and more.
