Perhaps the best jazz singer alive today.
-New York Times
World-renowned jazz vocalist Mary Stallings returns to the Bach to awe us with her supple sense of swing, blues-inflected phrasing, and matchless gift for empathic interpretation. Stallings has a long, impressive jazz resume dating back to the 1960’s when she appeared alongside jazz greats Cal Tjader, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Eckstine and the Count Basie Orchestra. She has also shared the bill with such luminaries as Joe Williams, Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald and recorded with Gene Harris, Gerald Wiggins, Harry “Sweets” Edison, Monty Alexander and Geri Allen to name a few.
Mary Stallings sets the standard when it comes to carrying on the vocal legacy of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, and Dinah Washington. Please join us and experience this living legend who DownBeat described as, “One of the most distinctive and compelling jazz singers on the scene.”
