The sensational young Korean-American pianist Soyeon Kate Lee, winner of the 2010 Naumburg International Piano Competition, opens our 67th Season with a performance of the rhapsodic Concerto No. 2 of Rachmaninoff. The Symphony also performs Dvorak’s glorious Symphony No. 7 and a favorite overture by Berlioz, Roman Carnival. The Washington Post has lauded Ms. Lee for her “stunning command of the keyboard,” and The New York Times hailed her as a pianist with “a huge, richly varied sound, a lively imagination and a firm sense of style.” She has been rapturously received as guest soloist with The Cleveland Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra, and we are thrilled to present her local symphonic debut.
