Our award-winning SFJAZZ High School All-Stars are some of the most extraordinarily talented young players in jazz today. Directed by saxophonist and educator Paul Contos, the All-Stars Orchestra is comprised of students from numerous high schools throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. For this December performance, the Orchestra celebrates the legacy of tenor sax titan John Coltrane, and is honored to share the stage with the one and only Ravi Coltrane! An array of Coltrane favorites will set the stage for a fabulous afternoon of exquisite arrangements for big band, including one of the most musically challenging and revered Coltrane works: Giant Steps. Come support the next generation of jazz masters!
