For the first of our two sets of Saturday Micro Concerts in the Joe Henderson Lab, San Francisco Symphony Prinicipal Percussionist Jacob Nissly will perform an exciting program of solo percussion music. A masterful musician who served as Principal Percussionist with the Detroit Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra, Nissly has worked with a host of prestigious orchestras including the New World Symphony, the Chicago Symphony, and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. He earned a bachelor of music and jazz studies from Northwestern University, where he studied with Michael Burritt, James Ross, former Pat Metheny drummer Paul Wertico and renowned jazz drummer Joel Spencer, and received his master’s degree from the Julliard School.
