Come join us every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (PT).
Group structure
- Brief introductions
- Four people get ten minutes to:
a) play a song they enjoy
b) give a short presentation on what they like about the song. - All attendees rate and discuss the song based on eight criteria (see below).
- At the end of the group, the song that gets the best overall rating is crowned winner for the week.
For the sake of keeping a unified group where people can at least partially agree on what “high quality” music is, this group purposely sets a musical constraint: Attendees must present songs that reasonably fall under the categories of indie and folk rock. There is no absolute definition, but here is how ChatGPT defines Indie music: Indie Rock is characterized by its DIY (do-it-yourself) ethos, emphasizing creativity, individuality, and a departure from mainstream conventions.
