Big brother is watching you …

The critically acclaimed Headlong production of 1984 transfers to the Playhouse Theatre London, following successful runs at the Nottingham Playhouse and London’s Almeida Theatre.

George Orwell’s game changing novel, 1984 will run at the Playhouse from the 28th April, with press night on the 8th May 2014. The much famed novel about a dystopian future in which citizens are policed by the all seeing Big Brother has been adapted on countless occasions, but the Headlong production threatens to be as tantalising yet terrifying as ever.

The story, written in 1949, predicts a grim future in which protagonist Winston Smith and his fellow citizens of Airstrip One are forced to tow the party line or risk extermination.

Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan’s stage adaptation of 1984 is presented to the Playhouse by Sonia Friedman Productions, Eleanor Lloyd Productions and Tulchin Bartner Productions.

1984 tickets are on sale now and can be booked via our tickets page or through the booking box above.

Cast: Mark Arends plays Winston with Hara Yannas as Julia. Further casting includes Tim Dutton as O’Brien, Steohen Fewell as Charrington, Christopher Patrick Nolan as Christopher Patrick Nolan Martin, Matthew Spencer as Syme, Gavin Spokes as Parsons and Mandi Symonds as Mrs Parsons.
