Bridging philosophy and practice, we work with the parts of the self that show up to participate in the creative process. Working from an ethics of co- composition, we will study presence, attention, the creative process, and communication. Exploring what it means to live in a generative universe, we will question what we think a creative human can be: means, modes and embodiment.
We’ll look at art-making as a practice of response-ability* for the quality of our connections.
Each participant will be responsible for making a piece within the mentorship program. Projects may be small or large. Solo or ensemble works are welcome as are non-dance projects! These 6 months will culminate in a final sharing day where artists can witness, uplift and give feedback to one another. Performance is not mandatory but encouraged. Projects vary widely. Format of a final work is open to a real time presentation before a real audience as site specific or zoomed, or as a video pre-composed construction.
