In the spirit of the San Francisco Bay Area creative music scene, and to honor the important role of the soon-to-closed Berkeley Arts Festival, Amy and her collaborators will perform A Mostly Entirely Improvised Opera In a Made-Up Language, using the whole Arts Festival space.

Featuring

  • Donald Swearingen — keyboards and gesture-controlled electronics
  • Moe! Staiano — percussion
  • Amy X Neuburg — voice and electronics
  • Mystery String Player — TBA

9pm John Shiurba’s 5 X 5

  • John Shiurba — guitar
  • Scott Rosenberg — tenor and soprano saxophones
  • Phillip Greenlief — alto saxophone and clarinet
  • Scott Walton — contrabass
  • Gino Robair — percussion

The 5th of any month is good for 5×5 music, especially the 10th month. This formation of 5×5 promises an exciting palate of sounds and a wide range of dynamics as it navigates the often thorny, sometimes delicate terrain of Shiurba’s compositions.
