Week 8 | July 17-21 | Crystal Wagner

American multimedia artist Crystal Wagner combines 2-D and 3-D forms to create whimsical site-specific installations. Her work often features bright colors, intricate designs and materials such as birthday-party tablecloths and chicken wire! Whole Foods Market will provide free healthy snacks for all summer camps.

  • jumpstART: Pre-K–K | Alison Harris

jumpstART will get your pre-k or kindergartener up and moving with art! This half-day program will include exciting music, motion and visual art activities that will nurture your budding artist! JumpstART runs 9 a.m.-noon.

  • Grades K-1 | Little Illusionists | Debbie Elledge

Optical illusions play games with the mind! This camp will give campers’ brains a workout while creating optical illusion art. Emphasis will be given on the power of line, color, shapes, texture and patterns.

  • Grades K-1 | Building Dreams | Leslie Hensley

If your dreams had a house, what would it look like? Campers will construct their very own dream vessels! These vessels will be inspired by the imagery of flowing colors represented in contemporary artist Crystal Wagner’s work. This camp will explore texture and color and turn dreams into reality!

  • Grades 2-4 | 3-D Fiber Fanatics | Patrick Riley

Come and experience fiber fun with us! Campers will create a large fiber sculpture using yarn, leather, wire and paper mache. They’ll also learn weaving techniques using yarns, fabric and paper. Don’t miss out on this 3-D fiber experience!

  • Grades 2-4 | Puppetry | Dayna Brown

Students will explore the basic concepts behind puppet design and construction. They will learn to make various styles of puppets, including finger puppets, hand puppets and muppets. This camp will conclude with a short puppet show written and performed by students at Friday’s Camp Contemporary Showcase!

  • Grades 5-6 | The Installation Experience | Autumn Brown

Taking inspiration from contemporary artist Crystal Wagner, campers will work together to create a large-scale installation. They’ll first make thumbnail sketches and mockup models, then collaborate on execution. They will explore and experience all the steps of the creative process and even receive feedback from Oklahoma Contemporary’s Curatorial and Education teams. This is the perfect opportunity for students to work together and see their work come to life. You won’t want to miss your campers’ final project, and your camper won’t want to miss this artistic experience!
