MEbU (Münster Earport) is UMS’nJIP’s home base in Switzerland. MEbU is the acronym of Münster Earport by UMS’nJIP — the name refers with a wink to the neighboring Münster Airport. One of the most experienced and distinguished contemporary music laboratories of our times, UMS’nJIP (Ulrike Mayer-Spohn and Javier Hagen) can look back on more than 1300 concerts in over 40 countries and are one of the most active contemporary music ensembles worldwide. Choosing Münster (Goms, Valais) as their residence in the middle of the highest alpine peaks also means returning to their ancestral roots: Their family, with almost twenty-five bailiffs, was for centuries one of the most important and influential in the county. MEbU welcomes and hosts guest musicians, composers, stage directors, sound engineers, poets and artists working with UMS’nJIP. The results of their collaboration are usually shared on site: in local showcases and in their MEbU Concert Hall, where musical performances of the most diverse kind, from traditional folk music to avant-garde and experimental electronic formats, can be heard in exemplary fashion.
