We kickoff our 35th Season with a weekend of calling card performances and a display of art objects from our 35-year history, plus a special evening KICKOFF Celebration on Saturday Oct. 5!
Theatre of Yugen is celebrating the launch of its 35th Anniversary Season with the first of four Special Events. Getting to NOH Yugen is a weekend of all things Yugen, including a display of costumes, masks and archival footage from our 35-year history.
Stop by the “NOHspace Gallery” Oct. 5-6, doors are open 2 – 6 pm!
2:00 – 3:00 Costumes Galore – We will have our extensive costume collection on display and a place set aside for people to be dressed up in traditional costumes.
3:00 – 4:00 Songs and Dances – After a brief introduction to Noh and Kyogen, Yugen Ensemble Members will perform a selection of Noh and Kyogen songs and dances. Meanwhile, children of all ages are invited to participate in a lesson on Usagi, a charming and fun riddle describing a popular furry friend.
4:00 – 6:00 From the Vault – A selection of scenes, readings and video from historic Theatre of Yugen productions.
And stay late on Saturday, Oct. 5 for a special 35th Anniversary Season Preview presentation and sake toast at 7:00 pm.
