Meltdown brings together Yoko’s favourite artists and musicians from around the world for some one-off events featuring Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band; Siouxsie; Cibo Matto; Immortal Technique; Reggie Watts + Mac Lethal; Amadeus Leopold; Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto; Thurston Moore; Iggy and The Stooges + Savages; Body/Head (Kim Gordon and Bill Nace) featuring Ikue Mori + Mystical Weapons; Deerhoof; An Evening of Words and Music with Patti Smith; Marianne Faithfull and Bill Frisell; Boy George; Double Fantasy Live with Special Guests (John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s final album performed live.)

2013 also marks a very special anniversary for Meltdown, as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the festival.

Since 1993 some of the world most distinguished musicians have been the guest directors of Meltdown. From John Peel through to Massive Attack, via David Bowie, Patti Smith, Morrissey and more, Meltdown has given seminal artists the chance to pick their favourite artists to play and exhibit their work at Southbank Centre.The New York Dolls reunited for Morrissey; Jeff Buckley played his final UK show at Elvis Costello’s Meltdown; Nick Cave, Grace Jones and Pete Doherty sang Disney songs with Jarvis Cocker; Patti Smith performed Horses in full for her Meltdown. This festival brings legendary artists to Southbank Centre for a very special week of one-off performances.
