Silicon Valley Shakespeare’s (SVS) Saratoga summer residency kicks off on Friday, July 28, with an all-female and non-binary production of William Shakespeare’s epic tragedy, King Lear.
Ready to turn over his kingdom, Lear places the fate of the realm in the hands of his three daughters. But first, they must prove their love through flattery. When formal exteriors and facades are stripped away, truth and the best and worst of human nature are revealed in King Lear’s journey.
In the titular role is SVS Resident Dramaturg Doll Piccotto, who said, “I encourage all female and non-binary actors to audition for future productions. Shakespeare had all men for YEARS-now it’s our turn.”
