Outsound Presents the solo work of pianist-composer David Leikam, Itkuja Chamber Ensemble featuring vocals from Kat Eliot.

David Leikam will perform the debut of ‘Sunset’ A tribute to Eddie Gale (1941-2020). San Francisco Bay Area-based composer-performer and bandleader. Being born with cerebral palsy has affected his body and speech, giving him a distinct view into his creative arts/music process and being largely a self-taught multi-instrumentalist.
- 8:15 PM Itkuja Chamber Ensemble: Heikki Koskinen – e-trumpet, tenor recorder; Kat Eliot – vocals, flute; Eli Knowles – drums; Joshua Marshall – tenor/soprano flute; Bill Noertker – double bass; Rent Romus – alto/soprano saxophone, melodica, flutes
Rent Romus and Heikki Koskinen will present chamber music for itkuja Suite in preparation for their tour to Finland in August 2023. This small ensemble arrangement of their large group suite of music inspired by Finnish lament and Jazz will feature the Finnish and Karelian vocals of San Francisco based multi-instrumental musician Kat Eliot. They will also play the live debut of Lament for Temu dedicated to the memory of their colleague international double bassist and composer, Teppo Hauta-aho who passed in 2021.
