Come experience the rapturous singing and soaring instrumentals of Indian American musicians Sheela Bringi and Deepak Ramapriyan, with Vancouver-based tabla player and composer Neelamjit Dhillon.
Sheela and Deepak met in Los Angeles, California having followed their path in music from opposite coasts. Their similarities are striking: both born to South Indian parents who immersed them in Indian classical music and spirituality, but entirely surrounded by American music, from pop to jazz. Sheela sings and plays a 36-string celtic harp tuned to ragas, the bamboo bansuri flute, and harmonium, while Deepak sings and plays the violin and guitar, complimenting each other perfectly with lush vocal harmonies and ecstatic solos.
In addition to concerts in Sedona and Chandler this weekend, the trio will present a short free performance at the Dharma Yoga Festival in Phoenix on Sunday at 1pm, celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of revered Indian spiritual teacher Swami Vivekananda.
