Family Matinée: Linda Tillery & The Cultural Heritage Choir
Join vocalist and percussionist Linda Tillery and her award-winning ensemble, the Cultural Heritage Choir, for an interactive morning of singing, clapping and dancing. Drawing from the centuries old tradition of African-American children’s play songs and rhymes, families will learn about call and response as well as the rhythms that drive this music and give it vitality. In this exciting program celebrating the music at the root of jazz, the Cultural Heritage Choir will show you how to approach singing with the ears, the eyes and the heart.
Family Workshop: Work Songs / Play Songs!
- 12:15pm • Joe Henderson Lab
Families will enjoy this interactive experience with members of the Cultural Heritage Choir and continue to sing, clap and move to the sounds of African-American roots music. Appropriate for all ages! Family Workshops are free to matinee ticket holders and capacity is limited. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis on the morning of the Family Matinee; sign-ups take place at the SFJAZZ Education table in the lobby beginning at 10am.
