Nathaniel Dett’s Chariot Jubilee offers a stirring counterpoint with its exuberant expression of the lionized spiritual Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. Other repertoire, including I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes by Adolphus Hailstork, We Shall Walk Through the Valley by Undine Smith Moore and Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel by Moses Hogan, further advance a message of peace, commitment, and the enduring belief in a better future. Performed with chamber orchestra.
