Cory Combs, Instructor

Jazz history, live performance, classic audio and exciting video make Koret Discover Jazz the most distinctive jazz appreciation course available for adults. In our first spring series in the new SFJAZZ Center, we will go in depth on the bass, showcasing the development, sounds, influential musicians, and legacy of the instrument. Joining us will be several world-renowned bassists, including Christian McBride, Marcus Miller, Mark Dresser and Michael Manring, and celebrated drummers Peter Erskine and Matt Wilson, who will provide the drummer’s unique perspective. Additional musical guests include Jeff Marrs (drums), Mark Levine and Myra Melford (piano), Andrew Speight and Mary Fettig (sax), Peter Horvath (keyboards), members of the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars and more! Taught by bassist and educator Cory Combs, this course may be enjoyed individually or as a series.
