God, can this woman sing! It’s as if a vocalist from the great post-war blues and jazz combos had been transported to the end of the century.
–Blues Access Magazine
Kim Nalley is a swinging straight ahead vocalist with a 3-plus octave range that can go from operatic to gritty blues on a dime…and she has the ability to scat blistering solos with intense swing. Her latest album I Want a Little Boy with soul-jazz legend Houston Person topped the jazz charts and was hailed by the critics. Awarded “Best Jazz Group” in 2013 and shortlisted by Downbeat Critics Poll in 2017 as a “Rising Star”, vocalist Kim Nalley is already being called a legendary San Francisco institution. Nalley was discovered by Michael Tilson Thomas singing to packed audiences live with no amplification and eventually he recorded her and invited her to sing with the San Francisco Symphony. Subsequently she has gone on to become a recording artist touring the world and ranking high on the jazz charts for her many albums.
