Stretch your creativity with artist Jenny Fong of Modern Shibori as she leads a fun, hands-on shibori (bind-resist dyeing) workshop. You will be able to dye three bandanas and a personal piece of fabric to take home, applying Michel Garcia’s 1-2-3 method using organic indigo, fructose and pickling lime. While at the museum, be sure to check out shibori and other fashion on view in the special exhibition Kimono Refashioned.

Jenny Fong is a fashion designer and textile artist living and working in Berkeley, California. She trained at Parsons the New School for Design in New York City, where she earned a fashion design degree. She developed a love for indigo while working in men’s design at Levi-Strauss. Fong uses a range of GOTS-certified organic fibers, botanical dyes and shibori techniques to create her unique brand of eco-conscious couture, Modern Shibori.
