Jack DeJohnette is one of the most prominent drummers in jazz, and has played with such Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and Herbie Hancock. He got his big break with the legendary recording “Bitches Brew” in 1969. Later he became one of the permanent drummer for ECM, where he also made records with such Jan Garbarek and Terje Rypdal.
DeJohnette has lived with music for over half a century. He has also directed several of his own bands, where names like New Directions, Special Edition, and Gateway has a high star by many jazz fans worldwide. He is still a highly talented and inquisitive musician and gave earlier this year released a new album with Keith Jarrett’s Standards trio. Last year, solo album “Soul Travels ‘, while 71-year-old received the American jazz’ highest award: The NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship.
