Three of the great living instrumentalists working in contemporary jazz reunite in celebration of the 35th anniversary of their landmark 1986 album.

Pianist/keyboardist Bob James and alto saxophonist David Sanborn are two of the most prolific and versatile musicians in the world, boasting credits that span a mind-boggling array of styles and artists. Their careers memorably crossed paths on Double Vision, which spent more than a year on the Billboard charts while earning a GRAMMY Award for best jazz fusion album and a GRAMMY nomination for Al Jarreau’s simmering version of “Since I Fell For You.” This performance marks just the second time Sanborn and James have shared the Miner stage together, following their triumphant quartet appearance in June 2013 during the first San Francisco Jazz Festival held at the SFJAZZ Center.

Electric bass great Marcus Miller provided his virtuosic pulse on Double Vision and wrote the first two tracks (“Maputo” and “More Than Friends”). The triumvirate joins forces once again for Double Vision Revisited, infusing the melodically driven music with new creative energy generated by their many musical adventures in subsequent decades. They’re joined by drummer Billy Kilson, noted for his incendiary playing behind Dave Holland and Chris Botti, and powerhouse soul singer Larry Braggs, formerly of Tower of Power and a four-year stint as lead singer for The Temptations.
