Don’t miss the celebrated Balourdet Quartet’s San Francisco debut, where they bring their unique blend of emotional intensity and artistic risk-taking. This dynamic ensemble, winner of the 2024 Avery Fisher Career Grant, will perform a powerful program beginning with Haydn’s luminous Quartet No. 53 in D major (“The Lark”), then venture into the innovative soundscapes of Strange Machines by Karim Al-Zand and Impossible Inventions by Paul Novak. The evening closes with Smetana’s passionate, autobiographical String Quartet No. 1 in E minor, “From my Life”. Presented in collaboration with Stanford University’s Emerging String Quartet Program, this concert is a must-see for music lovers.
