Nicholas Chase’s “hai_ku 1.2” will be part of Ars Akusmatica Concert Series 5, Münster Earport (MEbU) in Münster. The series is dedicated to experimental and classical acousmatic/electroacoustic music, featured on the acousmonium, a loudspeaker orchestra developed by the French research team of the Groupe des Recherches Musicales in the 1970s at the Maison de Radio France. The series is curated by Ulrike Mayer-Spohn and Javier Hagen (UMSnJIP) and Simone Conforti (IRCAM, Paris) for Münster Earport.
Chase’s “hai_ku” project (created under the pen-name Lexx Vector) is six rhythmically-driven, percussive and quasi-melodic works sourced strictly from radio white noise, a concept Chase developed in conjunction with Illuminated Corridor and Neighborhood Public Radio for the 2008 Whitney Biennial.
