Part of a wave of brilliant musicians who’ve made their way to Los Angeles in recent years, Canadian-born drummer and composer Anthony Fung has thrived since graduating from the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance (now known as the Hancock Institute of Jazz) in 2018. Born and raised near Toronto, Fung was mentored by piano great Danilo Pérez at Berklee College of Music. After studying and performing with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Chris Potter, and Billy Childs at the Monk Institute, he established himself as a rising bandleader and composer with a series of critically hailed albums.
