What becomes a San Franciscan most? Is it the well-cultivated taste for kombucha, the willingness to pay for $4 toast, or is it the urge and the means to disrupt us into a new entrepreneurial dimension? If these questions indicate a certain dire quality, a certain sense that the end is indeed near, then what is next, and is there any hope for us as a city?
In “Late Stage San Francisco”, Maryam Farnaz Rostami contemplates the future of San Francisco with a one-woman show. Inspirations include the breaking heart of artists and the busy minds of tech workers, and solutions range from technological to preposterous. Rostami confronts both disappointment and hope in her vision of the future, played out over two evenings.
