Shiraz Arts Academy is proud to present Maestro Kayhan Kalhor’s next concert in the Bay Area; he will be joined with Ali BahramiFard on Santour.
A virtuoso of the Persian spiked fiddle called the Kamancheh, Kayhan Kalhor is a three-time Grammy nominee widely considered to be the greatest living ambassador of Iranian music. Born into an Iranian Kurdish family, he’s performed internationally as a founding member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble and given solo recitals at Carnegie Hall. Living back in Tehran after years in the West, Kalhor is joined with Ali Bahrami Fard, a master of the Santour (a hammered dulcimer). They will perform their new stirring music for the first time in the Bay Area.
