Lake Lady’s Story
Since age 4 I was in the choir and shortly thereafter, in children’s theater. In high school, I studied musical theater and creative writing, reading poetry and singing songs at open mics while working at restaurants and nonprofits in my spare time.
In college I studied playwriting and was awarded twice for my work at NYU, Tisch. To balance my interests, I interned at Universal, Astralwerks and Mute Records in college and performed in bands all over town. I also assisted artist managers and was a promotions rep for dare I say it, Clear Channel (I was 18, I didn’t know!), flyering at shows for them all over NY (getting paid to see concerts several nights a week, such an awesome gig). I interviewed artists for their bios as a freelance writer and years later, after a 7 year stint in Film/TV and Theater, I ran a blog called The Deli Magazine putting on a quarterly music showcase in Austin.
Then came the birth of Lake Lady, Lake Lady and the Mountain Man and once I moved to Oakland, Lake Lady Ukulele Project. Each one taking on a different personae, all reflecting different facets of my personality and life experience. This event is for my solo debut EP, Better Day. I hope you’ll join us.
