Tigran Hamasyan is a young musician born 1987 in Armenia. Tigran started playing piano at the age of 3. His reputation has steadily grown with every performance. Since the age of 13, he has played in European festivals. He has won prestigious piano competitions. Most notably, the 2006 Thelonious Monk jazz piano competition under supervision of Herbie Hancock. He has earned serious recognition with 4 albums and hundreds of concerts all around the world (Montreux, Montreal, Printemps de Bourges, North Sea, Juan Les Pins, Marciac,Monterey Jazz Fest, London Jazz Festival, Winter Festival in NY…etc). Recently, Tigran was named the winner of the 2013 Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Contemporary Music.
