Multiple GRAMMY-winning pianist and bandleader Chucho Valdés has consistently forged a postmodern sound that embodies everything from liturgical rhythms of the African Diaspora to bebop and beyond. Join Valdés along with SFJAZZ Director of Education Rebeca Mauleón and members of the Afro-Cuban Messengers as they trace the evolution of Afro-Cuban popular music from the 19th century to the present.
