Following last year’s thought-provoking inauguration of the Poetry Festival, SFJAZZ Poet Laureate Ishmael Reed curates the second happening, made powerful by the collective improvisation between words and music. Prominent Bay Area poets of Italian-American heritage have been invited to showcase their work on Thursday evening, hosted by Professor Lawrence DiStasi, curator of the American Italian Historical Association’s Western Regional Chapter. Poets include Giovanna Capone, Sandra Gilbert, Tom Centollela and Jack & Adelle Foley.
