A treasured Bay Area institution, the 60-voice Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir will raise the roof of the Miner Auditorium with a pair of rousing Saturday morning performances, accompanied by an optional brunch seating at Charles Phan’s South at SFJAZZ before and after the the 11AM show.

Founded in 1986 by vocalist Terrance Kelly (son of legendary Oakland jazz pianist Ed Kelly), the OIGC remains one of Oakland’s great cultural exports, performing all over the world to audiences including Nelson Mandela and Bishop Desmond Tutu, and to millions during numerous national television appearances. In addition to sharing the stage with artists ranging from Stan Getz and Pharoah Sanders to Peter Gabriel and Take 6, they’ve recorded four full-length albums and made indelible contributions to Grammy-winning recordings by Linda Ronstadt, MC Hammer and Tramaine Hawkins. Join us for a joyous celebration, showcasing the diverse makeup of the Bay Area with a multi-racial, multi-cultural assemblage of powerful voices sharing the spirit in perfect harmony.
