The Musicians of the San Francisco Symphony and Congregation Sherith Israel have teamed up to present a benefit concert to raise money for the SF-Marin Food Bank.
Blain Johnson, spokesperson for the SF-Marin Food Bank, says that “the lingering effects of the recession have pushed record numbers of people in San Francisco and Marin to the point of hunger. While government safety net programs are stretched thin, people can still count on the Food Bank, an organization that serves 147,000 families each week.”
We are thrilled to support our local Food Bank and hope that you will be able to join us in an evening of classical and neoclassical works, without a conductor and led by concertmaster Sasha Barantschik.
Concert Program
- Johann Sebastian Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No. 3
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Divertimento in D Major, K. 136
- Igor Stravinsky: Octet for Wind Instruments
- Sergei Prokofiev: Symphony No. 1, “Classical”
