San José Chamber Orchestra’s concludes with a program featuring cello soloist Jiaxun Yao, an up and coming artist winner from the 2020 Irving M. Klein International String Competition. Founded in 1985, it is recognized as one of the world’s leading competition for young string musicians. Open to string players ages 15-23, the competition takes place every June in San Francisco, California.

“Eine Klein(e) Evening of Music” will feature the beloved cello concerto by Robert Schumann, as well as the premieres of three short new works by local composers Kendrick Tri Huynh, Kerry Lewis, and Mona Lyn Reese, written as part of SJCO’s Responseworks Commissioning Project.
