This piano/bass duo has been playing together in various contexts since their college days in the 70s, inspired by the explosion of new musical possibilities of the era. After reconnecting in the Bay Area following a gap of several years, they began playing once more as a duo in 2013, with a mixture of original tunes and specially-selected modern covers and arrangements. Dan recently released a new recording of original works, remastered from a 20-year-old live concert performance, entitled Last Chance Jazz. (One track was offered as a free MP3 on All About Jazz. Editor’s Comments: Dizzying allure of a Metheny epic with some Sheppardesque saxness. Acutely mesmerizing. Stay with it.) This gig is part of Yoshi’s free Local Talent Series in The Lounge, and lasts until 10:00 pm.
