“He has built a loyal following throughout Latin America with a different style of roots music: a highly literate body of work that often addresses complex themes like nationality, exile, language and history.” — The New York Times

“His music is a distinctive blend of roots music from his native Uruguay, with Euro-electronica traces and a strong modern pop sensibility.” — Los Angeles Times

  • Jorge Drexler – guitar, lead vocals
  • Carlos Brugada – ukulele, theremin

A musical visionary from Uruguay, Jorge Drexler is one of Latin America’s most celebrated singer/songwriters. He made an indelible impression on countless viewers by delivering an impromptu a cappella rendition of his theme for The Motorcycle Diaries, “Al Otro Lado Del Rio,” while collecting his Oscar for Best Original Song. With his soft, lulling voice, expert guitar work, and quietly compelling stage presence, he laces traditional Uruguayan forms such as candombe, milonga and tango with insinuating traces of bossa nova, jazz and electronica. Now based in Spain, he grew up in Montevideo with a strong Jewish identity, and spent his early career dividing his time between music and a medical practice. These days, he does his healing wielding a guitar.
