“A national treasure steeped in both the past and the present” (The New York Times), the Dirty Dozen Brass Band celebrates nearly 50 years as the New Orleans institution responsible for the resurgence of the brass band tradition to ring in the new year.
These NYE concerts will include complimentary sparkling wine, party favors, a massive balloon drop (10:30 PM only), a countdown to 2025 in NYC and SF, and much more!
Originally assembled in 1977 and currently led by founding tenor saxophonist Kevin Harris, Dirty Dozen started when public enthusiasm for the New Orleans brass sound was at its lowest point. The lack of expectation (and gigs) freed the ensemble from strict adherence to traditional songs and approaches, and they borrowed freely from the pop music of the day as well as countless other influences.
