Bert Danckaert is known above all for his small abstract photographs of facades in unremarkable locations. In the context of Europalia, BOZAR presents work that Danckaert created in Mumbai. The artist was fascinated by the Bollywood industry, with its artificial sets, and the situation of a problematic city marked by a huge contrast between rich and poor. The result was The Extras, a series of photographs in which Danckaert for the first time focuses on people and animals. In his distinctive style, he came up with striking and unique pictures.
This exhibition came into being in cooperation with the Roberto Polo Gallery, which is at the same time hosting an exhibition entitled “Bert Danckaert: No Exit”. On the occasion of this project, Danckaert will present his book Simple Present at the Centre for Fine Arts.
This exhibition is organized at the occasion of the europalia.india festival.
