“Yob might be one of the best bands in North America,” declared Ben Ratliff in a feature New York Times article in March of 2010 that can be best described as gushing. The Eugene, OR-based doom metal trio has seen similar praise worldwide, with a growing host of fans citing the band as one of the most profound and accomplished doom metal phenomena of the twenty-first century.

Once upon a time, Acid King’s creator, songwriter, guitarist and singer Lori S. hung out with her friends at Busse Woods, a forest preserve outside Chicago where teenagers up to no good hung out with their trunks open, cranking tunes and selling drugs. After the cops caught on this era ended.

Southern Lord is proud to present the new opus from The Bay Area’s devastating duo Black Cobra. Formed by drummer Rafa Martinez (ex-16, ex-Acid King) and guitarist/vocalist Jason Landrian (ex-Cavity), Black Cobra catapulted themselves onto the scene in 2001 with their ravenous, upbeat and ultimately unique style of punk/hardcore-fueled sludge metal. They were picked up almost immediately by indie At A Loss Recordings becoming the band’s label home for the release of their debut full-length, Bestial, and follow-up album, Feather And Stone. By 2009, with the band then virtually a household name to the tens of thousands of fans who’ve seen their flooring live performances over the years, Black Cobra signed with juggernaut Southern Lord Recordings for the release of Chronomega, the band’s most diverse material to date.

Embers, formed in 2004 from Oakland, CA has emerged on the fringes of the North West Cascadian Black Metal scene. They have shared the stage with bands such as High on Fire, Eyehategod, Ludicra, Nachtmystium, Wolves In The Throne Room, Withered, Book Of Black Earth and many more groundbreaking crust and metal acts.
