A student of the great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Asif Ali Khan is a powerful figure on the international music scene, praised for his brilliant inventiveness. His distinctive style of this form of Sufi devotional music, dating back 700 years, is characterized by full-throated vocals and energetic rhythms. Khan can be meditative and trance-like then suddenly thrilling and ecstatic–a genuinely inspiring experience.
