Combining boundless creative imagination with a deep reverence for American folk, blues and country music, Marisa Anderson’s guitar playing is fluid, emotional, dexterous and original. National Public Radio says Anderson’s playing “exposes and hides the mysteries of American music”. Pitchfork calls her recent record, ‘Mercury’, ”Brilliant” and Wire Magazine says, “Her sound has strength in restless variety…Anderson’s playing is heartfelt and utterly American, free from grandstanding and steeped in respect for the old tradition.”

Amy Reed is a visual artist and composer living in Sacramento, California. She is the founder of Ma, a series that supports creative work by women at Gold Lion Arts, a performance/education space she co-creates with Ross Hammond. She studied extensively with Sarah Flohr and has also studied visual art with Vladimir Tarasov and Robert Reed. She allows her painting practice and her composing practice to inform her extensive research into performance, video, sound, improvisation, and listening. Recent work includes: Solo – electric guitar, Ione’s 20th Annual Dream Festival; virtual Artists-in-Residence dream duo with ecologist Dr. Leo Polansky, large ensemble work with Phillip Greenlief, and an active duo with Ross Hammond performing original and traditional material.

Collette McCaslin and Sheila Bosco are a duo of intertwining interest in free jazz, electronic music and various visual modes of communication. They integrate noise with an aesthetic of psychedelia, and cut-up sampling along with improvisation.

Beast Nest is Sharmi Basu’s primary performing project. She utilizes an unwavering depression & restrained horror to channel left-eyed spirits. While simultaneously clearing and entering, the sewage pipes of the body and the patriarchy congeal into watery soundscapes as a vehicle for achieving liberation through the darkest of fears.
