“Auerbach is a full-blooded Romantic, brooding deeply and often revealingly about love, art, the universe and everything (in addition to her musical gifts, she’s also a prolific poet).” — San Francisco Chronicle

Lera Auerbach will sign copies of her new book of aphorisms titled, Excess of Being in the lobby of SFJAZZ Center, after the performance.

The multi-talented Russian-born composer-performer Lera Auerbach will be joined by two gifted artists and friends—all beloved San Francisco Performances alumni—for an evening of her compelling music. Auerbach’s works have been heard on grand opera and ballet stages but her artistry is perhaps best experienced in the intimate directness of chamber music, which “spills forth in fervent waves of tonal harmony and aggressive but sinuous melody.” (San Francisco Chronicle)

Concert Program

  • Lera Auerbach: Chorale, Fugue, and Postlude for Piano, Op. 31; Triptych—This Mirror Has Three Faces (Trio No. 2); Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano
  • Sergei Prokofiev/Lera Auerbach: Trio Transcription of Prokofiev’s Flute Sonata, Op. 94 (World Premiere)
