“Mr. Redman is a supremely affable and flowing improviser, at times a borderline brilliant one, working in a glow of clarity.” — The New York Times

“Redman ranks with the best saxophonists in the world.” — Boston Globe

  • Joshua Redman — tenor saxophone
  • Reuben Rogers — bass
  • Gregory Hutchinson — drums

Saxophonist Joshua Redman has been stirring audiences around the world with his passionate and thoughtful playing since 1993, when his self-titled debut album on Warner Bros. made him a star. A fluent, deeply communicative improviser whose associates have included Charlie Haden, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, the Rolling Stones, Christian McBride Brad Mehldau and other prime musicians, Redman has led a series of dynamic bands – acoustic, electric or both – playing his original music and songs by artists as varied as Ornette Coleman, Rogers & Hammerstein and Bob Dylan. A former SFJAZZ artistic director and founding member of the stellar SFJAZZ Collective, Redman leads a limber piano-less trio with bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Gregory Hutchinson, playing music from his vital new CD on Nonesuch, Trios Live. The music, Redman says, is dedicated to people of all kinds across the globe “who come out night after night to see and hear live jazz. You bear witness to this music; you testify to that moment.” Come revel in the music of these masterly improvisers as it takes shape in the moment.
