Thee oddest jam band in all the land … a band that exists outside of space and time …
Instagon is a conceptual audio project founded by California artist, and bassist, Lob in 1993. The concept behind the project was the application of Chaos Theory to the “band situation” and interplay between musicians and sound artists. Now 23 years later, with over 700 different ensembles, nearly 700 players been involved, and hundreds of hours of recordings Instagon has become one of the most well documented, on going, prolific, experimental sound art projects in the world. Reaching for horizons of new sounds and friendly interactions with new players all the time, Instagon brings something special to any stage; an experience for the band and the audience every time it happens. No two sessions are the same … ever … and every show is uniquely constructed for that session … If you see Instagon you are hearing, seeing and being part of the art. Crossing boundaries creating something that has been described as a hybrid between a jazz band, a jam band, and performance art. Instagon is currently based in Sacramento,CA and plays regularly in that area.. with occasional visits to the Bay and beyond.
